School of Dentistry Tenure Track and Career Line (Non-Tenure Track) Clinical Faculty Positions
The School of Dentistry at the University of Utah invites applications for tenure-track and career line (non-tenure track) clinical faculty at the assistant, associate or full professor ranks. Rank and track will be determined by the candidates experience and qualifications.
We seek accomplished dental clinicians who are educators and scholars with the skills, capacities and interests for training an exceptionally talented pool of students within a university environment that thrives on innovation and is committed to leading the nation in the transformation of health care.
Qualified candidates should have a DDS or equivalent degree. Individuals with dental specialty training and board certification as well as PhD degrees are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities will include educating and training students in the DDS program that provides an integrated curriculum in the foundational sciences. The school has developed a strong core of interprofessional education and patient care with its partners in medicine, pharmacy, health and nursing and seamlessly integrates evidence-based decision making in all of its programs. Our inter-disciplinary education forums utilize case analyses in team-based settings. Clinical training will occur within the school, hospital and community health clinic settings.
Successful candidates are those who are committed to training dental students to be technically proficient in all aspects of primary oral health care delivery and who can serve as a role model for compassionate and ethical care of patients. We also seek individuals whose drive and intellectual curiosity help advance research that leads to new therapeutics for dentistry. By embracing society's need for training dentists who can partner with other primary health care providers to improve oral and overall health for patients, we seek applicants with insights and vision for the newly emerging role of dentists within team-based health care delivery settings.
Opportunities abound at the University of Utah to assist faculty in developing skills as evidence-based educators, learners and leaders for academic dentistry. The institution just renewed its Center for Clinical and Translational Science (http://medicine.utah.edu/ccts/) that serves as a rich resource for patient-oriented research methodology and mentoring. Leadership opportunities are available for those applicants who wish to spearhead programs directed at transforming academic dentistry and the practice of an integrated primary oral health care delivery for all segments of our society.
