University of Utah Hospital Resident Clinic

Work alongside colleagues at University of Utah Hospital

At least twice monthly, residents participate in scheduled oral surgery in the dental clinic. There is also the opportunity to participate in oral surgical and restorative procedures in the operating rooms of the hospital and, if ever necessary, to care for hospital inpatients.

Residents have primary call approximately every 10 weeks and secondary/back-up call once every 10 weeks.

This rotation is the same one fourth-year medical students take who are interested in going in to the field of anesthesiology. Residents will have opportunities to intubate and start IV lines in the Center for Patient Simulation, as well as patients. Airway management is an important and valuable part of this rotation, in addition to the ACLS certification completed at the beginning of the year.

This rotation lasts one month. The more prepared residents are for this rotation, the more rewarding the experience will be.

This two-week hospital rotation includes clinic time with ENT faculty evaluating lesions of the head and neck, as well as operating room time for treatment.

Each resident is expected to attend and participate in scheduled seminars, lectures, and courses to further their knowledge and better prepare for patient care in private practice.
