The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) has approved the University of Utah School of Dentistry to participate in the Professional Student Exchange Program (PSEP), effective beginning with the 2016-2017 academic year.
This applies to applicants from the states of Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Wyoming. Applicants desiring to apply for PSEP funding for tuition may go to the WICHE website: www.wiche.edu for more information on application materials. Once in the website, select the link to your individual state and follow instructions.
First DDS Degree Coming in 2017
The University of Utah School of Dentistry will grant its first DDS degree in 2017. It is part of the University of Utah’s Health Sciences, which includes University of Utah Health Care, the School of Medicine, the Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health, and the Eccles Health Sciences Library. As part of the Health Sciences, the School of Dentistry is a member of the Mountain West’s only academic medical center. University of Utah Health Care serves people in six states—Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and portions of Nevada and Colorado—nearly 10 percent of the continental United States.
Our New Home
The new home of the School of Dentistry, the Ray and Tye Noorda Oral Health Sciences Building, was completed in early 2015. Although classes are held at the School of Dentistry, opportunities for cross-professional education and collaboration in this rich environment are unlimited. The School of Dentistry is the administrative home of the Utah Addiction Center and faculty members currently do research in a variety of fields, including pharmacology, toxicology, Sjögren's syndrome, public health, and dental materials. Additionally, the University of Utah ranks first in the country in spinoff companies resulting from university research and innovations, while University of Utah Health Care has been ranked among the top 10 academic medical centers in the country.
