Ray & Tye Noorda Oral Health Sciences Building


The School of Dentistry will soon have a new home in the Ray and Tye Noorda Oral Health Sciences Building. When completed, the building will be a nearly 80,000-square-foot complex and encompass cutting edge classrooms, laboratories, and a dental clinic. Currently, construction of the building is scheduled to be completed by December of 2014. The building's physical location is in Research Park on Wakara Way, allowing for integration and collaboration with other health sciences programs.

Construction Updates:

September 19, 2014: Painting is finished on levels 1 and 2, and is almost complete on level 3. Vinyl flooring is now complete in the clinic area and dental cabinetry installation has begun.

September 12, 2014: The masonry, interior terracotta and ceramic tile are now complete on the entire building and all masonry scaffolding is gone. Garage construction is nearing the end.

September 5, 2014: Ceramic tile installation is now complete in the basement, as well as levels one and two. Boiler start-up, interior terracotta, vinyl flooring and pouring of the stairs have all begun this week. 

August 29, 2014: The remaining framing, drywall and taping is nearly complete in the entire building. Ceiling grid will complete level 1 next week followed by the installation of acoustical panels. Both metal casework and stainless steel countertops were installed this week.

August 15, 2014: Masonry is almost complete on the entire building, only the north east corner remains. Terracotta and GFRC art panel are also complete. Painting is proceeding throughout the building where it is applicable. The building is now almost enclosed.

August 8, 2014: The remaining framing, drywall and taping is nearly complete in the basement, followed by painting. Many of the concrete floors in the basement have been polished and sealed. Mechanical equipment, millwork bases, and finish lights in the garage are all installed and many items have been fired up, including the water pumps and and the basement air handler.
