Research Faculty Positions

Research faculty at the University of Utah enjoy opportunities for collaborative, multidisciplinary research. As the first new school of dentistry at a major academic health center in over three decades, our mission is to create clinician scholars, researchers, and educators to advance dentistry and improve oral health.

We welcome applications from both tenure track and career line faculty.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have a dual DDS/PhD or MD/PhD degrees or a PhD degree and a track record of innovation and excellence in the fields of craniofacial, oral, dental, or related research with a history of extramural funding and quality publications.

Besides establishing a vibrant and externally funded research program, selected candidates will be expected to mentor DDS and graduate trainees and contribute to teaching foundational sciences in the School of Dentistry.

Research Faculty Positions

Clinical Faculty Positions

We seek accomplished dental clinicians who are educators and scholars with the skills, capacities, and interests for training students. Applicants should thrive on innovation and be committed to leading the nation in the transformation of health care. We welcome applications from both tenure track and career line faculty.

The School of Dentistry at the University of Utah invites applications for tenure-track and career line (non-tenure track) clinical faculty at the assistant, associate, or full professor ranks. Rank and track will be determined by the candidates experience and qualifications.

Qualified candidates should have a DDS or equivalent degree. Individuals with dental specialty training and board certification as well as PhD degrees are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include educating and training students in the DDS program that provides an integrated curriculum in the foundational sciences. The school has developed a strong core of interprofessional education and patient care with its partners in medicine, pharmacy, health and nursing and seamlessly integrates evidence-based decision making in all of its programs. Our inter-disciplinary education forums utilize case analyses in team-based settings. Clinical training will occur within the school, hospital and community health clinic settings.

Successful candidates are committed to training dental students to be technically proficient in all aspects of primary oral health care delivery and who can serve as a role model for compassionate and ethical care of patients. We also seek individuals whose drive and intellectual curiosity help advance research that leads to new therapeutics for dentistry. By embracing society's need for training dentists who can partner with other primary health care providers to improve oral and overall health for patients, we seek applicants with insights and vision for the newly emerging role of dentists within team-based health care delivery settings.
