Rotations are generally two weeks in length and include the following sites:
Anesthesia Rotation (University of Utah Hospital) (two weeks)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Intubation and airway management
- Safe Sedation Training (SST)
- Proper IV Placement
- Pharmacology of Sedation
- Post-Anesthesia Care/Recovery
Emergency Department (University of Utah Hospital) (two weeks)
- Team Approach to Patient Assessment
- Triage
- Diagnosis
- Treatment and/or Referral for Treatment
ENT/Oncology (Huntsman Cancer Hospital) (two weeks)
- Observe/assist ENT Oncology surgeons in the operating room
- Observe the diagnosis and treatment planning for head and neck cancer surgery
- Attend Tumor Board Meetings
Montezuma Creek (Utah Navajo Health Systems) (two weeks)
- Outreach to underserved populations
- Outreach to rural populations
- Improve diagnostic skills
- Enhance cultural competency

- Hospital Consultations
- Management of Complex Dental Patients
- Management of Medically Compromised Patients
- Oral Surgery
- 3rd molar surgery
- Complex extraction

Educational Seminars
- Time: Every Wednesday, 1 pm – 5 pm
- Location: School of Dentistry Rounds Room and VA Hospital
- Seminar attendance and participation are required of all residents
Pediatric Dentistry Seminars
- Time: First and second Fridays of the month, 7 am - 8 am
- Location: School of Dentistry Rounds Room

Journal Club/Case Presentation
- Time: First Friday of the month, 8 am - 10 am
- Location: School of Dentistry Rounds Room
- Case presentations and journal article reviews will be done by residents
Emergency On Call
- Each resident is required to take primary and secondary on call assignments throughout the year. Residents gain great experiences by taking on call. They are able to see and treat complex cases on patients.
